The FRAP network has a projected budget of €2.99 million over 5 years, awarded by the National Cancer Institute (INCa), and distributed across four main areas :
- Network management: 21%
- Structuring actions: 34%
- Research actions: 36%
- Network animation: 9%
This portion supports the overall coordination and administration of the FRAP network.
A key element is the recruitment of an experienced project manager, who will ensure smooth daily operations and serve as the main interface between partner institutions.
The management budget also includes:
- Centralized operating costs for all IRPs, allowing efficient control of major cross-cutting investments.
- INSERM operating costs (8%).
- Minor consumables required for the network’s activities.
At the heart of FRAP’s development, structuring actions fund the creation and operation of the resource and bioinformatics hub.
This includes:
- Three dedicated engineers over the course of the project:
- Engineer 1: Data management for IRP1 (catalog setup, integration with BACAP and biobank partners, organization of molecular data).
- Engineer 2: Data curation, normalization, and creation of the public access and analysis portal.
- Engineer 3: Processing tissue collections for network research teams in alignment with IRP2/3 projects.
- Operational costs for the bioinformatics hub.
Research is the main investment area of the network.
Instead of distributing funds equally, FRAP focuses on multiteam, high-risk proof-of-concept projects, which are crucial for generating preliminary data and enhancing competitiveness in future funding calls.
Each year, these grants will be awarded following a rigorous review by the external scientific advisory board.
- Minimum grant size: €30,000 (with flexibility for IRPs to adjust grant numbers and sizes).
- Additional funds will support innovative sample collections (e.g., microbiota, serum) from clinical trials, managed by the network hub and BACAP biobank.
- Part of the budget will also fund patient engagement activities to advance the IRP2/3 patient-centered objectives.
This final segment ensures FRAP remains a dynamic and collaborative community.
It covers:
- Development and maintenance of the network web portal and hub tools.
- Organization of mandatory meetings, as well as scientific, thematic, and educational events.
- Travel support for members attending these gatherings.
