Replay - From Research to the Clinic: Science, Media, and Access to Treatments
FRAP Webinar - In French
Fundamental research regularly yields promising discoveries. Yet the path from a molecule identified in the laboratory to a treatment available to patients remains long and complex. Why are some therapies accessible in other countries but not in France? What role do the media play in the dissemination, and sometimes the distortion, of scientific information?
On June 5th, the FRAP Network, the Espoir Pancréas association, and the AFRCP brought together five experts to address these questions during a French-language webinar, moderated by Prof. Jérôme Cros.
Webinar programme
• The different stages of a research project and the limitations of preclinical models — Victoire Ruffino, researcher
• Analysis of a recent publication (Barbacid team, CNIO, Spain) — Erinn Soucie, researcher
• Scientific information and editorial choices in the media — Nicolas Gutierrez C., science journalist
• From the laboratory to the clinic: why does it take so long? — Patrick Mehlen, researcher
• Why are some molecules available abroad but not in France? — Emmanuel Mitry, clinician-researcher
Each presentation was followed by a discussion with the audience, giving participants the opportunity to engage directly with the experts throughout the session.
